For external SCSI-3 end-of-line termination, active is always preferred over passive, and this active terminator features an LED to monitor terminator power line status. Active negation terminators differ from active terminators in that voltage regulation is provided within a 1% tolerance and, combined with the addition of a current sinking capability of 20 mAmps overall, creates a much more stable SCSI bus.
